Hi, my name is Nancy Schultz, and I hired Donna and Eli in 2019 to remodel my childhood home. From the start, it was important to us that the craftsmanship be exceptional. My father was a contractor, so we’re very particular about how things are built and how they look. We also wanted to work with people who understood our design preferences, but who could guide us toward the best materials and where to find them. With so many options out there, that kind of help made a huge difference. While Eli was working on the first renovation, he looked around the backyard and said, “Nancy, there’s so much opportunity here. When we’re done with this house, we should build another one.” At the time, we thought he was crazy. But once that first project wrapped up and we were enjoying the updates, we decided to take him up on it. We reached out to Eli and Donna again to talk about what was possible. After a few conversations, we decided that building a standalone unit would be the best fit for our future plans. It was a new build from the ground up, not just a remodel, and it came with a very different design goal. We wanted a more beachy, light-filled look, compared to the mid-century modern feel of the main house. Natural light was a big priority. So was maintaining privacy, since the new structure was near the property line and close to neighbors. Donna and Eli helped us design something that felt open and airy, but still private and peaceful. And they pulled it off, even in the middle of a pandemic. They were completely transparent about timelines, supplies, and what we needed to buy early. Because of that, by the time we broke ground, we already had the flooring, tile, lumber, and other essentials on site. That helped avoid any delays, which was critical, since we had a very tight deadline. We needed the house to be finished in time for my wedding, which was going to be held in my mom’s backyard. And it was. The house was done, the day was beautiful, and Donna and Eli even danced with us at the reception. That’s the kind of relationship we built with them. They’re not just contractors. They became friends for life. We would never have moved forward with a project like this without them. They guided us through every part of the process and made sure the job was done properly from start to finish. They handled everything. That meant a lot to us. We couldn’t be happier with the results. Ten out of ten. Highly recommend.
