We decided to reach out to Eli and Donna after they were recommended to us by a friend. That personal referral gave us confidence that we’d be happy with their work, and it turned out to be absolutely true. After speaking with Eli and Donna, we decided to move forward for several reasons. One of the biggest was the timeline they presented. They told us they could complete the construction much faster than any of the other contractors we had spoken with, and they followed through on that promise. The project was completed within the timeframe they proposed, which was really important to us. We have young children and wanted to minimize the disruption of living through construction. We were very pleased that everything stayed on schedule and within budget. We actually came to Quality First Builders after we had already completed the architectural plans and had started the permitting process with a different company. Our project was an ADU built over our garage, designed for guests and visiting family. It’s a relatively simple square space, architecturally speaking. But the permitting process had already taken a long time before we contacted Eli and Donna, and we were dangerously close to our permit deadline. We needed to pull the permit within just a couple of weeks before it expired. Eli stepped in immediately and took full control of the process. He was extremely communicative and always quick to respond. I would often text him questions, and he would call back to talk through the details. Throughout the entire build, he kept us informed about what was happening and when. If there was ever a delay, which was rare, he made sure we understood the reason. For example, if something was held up by DWP or another agency, he would explain what was going on and what the new timeline looked like. I also worked closely with Donna on the interior design, which was a huge help. Our plans only included architectural details, so Donna helped with everything from flooring and cabinetry to paint colors and light fixtures. She guided us through all the design decisions and helped us bring the space to life. One of our top priorities was having a full kitchen in the ADU. Even though we planned it as a guest house, we wanted it to be fully livable and potentially rentable if needed. I’m exceptionally pleased with how that part turned out. The kitchen and bathroom both feel complete and well-designed. The entire unit is a functional, comfortable living space. Eli and Donna were professional, responsive, and reliable throughout the project. The quality of the work is excellent, and they handled every challenge with care and attention. We were especially impressed by how mindful they were about working around children on the property, as well as their commitment to keeping the site clean and safe. The combination of clear communication, great design, excellent craftsmanship, and sticking to schedule made this a fantastic experience. We are thrilled with the results.
